During a 200-hour yoga teacher training, you write things down. You nod at the right moments. You learn the different latin names of things by heart and you say them back on the exam and feel briefly competent. Nobody tells you that what you memorised and what you actually need (and when) are almost entirely different things. That is where this podcast conversation begins.
Lisa Monn Delikaris is a yoga teacher, anatomy educator, physiotherapist and author of the book Easy Yoga Anatomy. She is based in Zurich, and she has spent years doing the thing I think the yoga world needs more of; making anatomy feel like something that serves teachers rather than something that intimidates them. I reached out to her because I wanted to have the conversation about what new yoga teachers actually need to know, what they can stop worrying about and what it really means to teach safely in a room full of bodies that do not look like the diagrams in your manual.
The episode is out now and available on Spotify, YouTube and here on Substack! Where ever you are in your teaching journey, I hope it makes you breathe a little easier before your next (first?) class.
You can find Lisa on her website or on Instagram and Easy Yoga Anatomie (in German) is available now!
